Connect Butler AI
to Claude or ChatGPT.
Bring your hotel operations into your AI assistant. Find guests, review tasks, and work with Butler using your existing staff account.
Before you connect
You need a Butler staff account with active membership at your hotel, and permission to add custom connections in Claude or ChatGPT. Your assistant’s plan and workspace settings determine availability.
Start in your assistant. Butler will open a sign-in and approval page where you choose one hotel and review the requested permissions. Each connection uses that hotel and your staff permissions.
Custom connector
Connect with Claude
Add Butler as a remote connector in Claude on the web or desktop.
Open Claude in a new tabAdd a custom connector
Open Customize → Connectors in Claude. Choose Add, then Add custom connector. Name it Butler AI and paste the server URL above.
Use automatic registration
Keep OAuth sign-in enabled. If an OAuth client option is shown, choose Register automatically. Butler does not require you to supply a client ID or secret.
Sign in and choose your hotel
Finish adding the connector and choose Connect. In the Butler page that opens, sign in with your staff account, select your hotel, review the permissions, and choose Allow access.
Enable Butler in your conversation
Return to Claude and enable Butler AI from the conversation’s connectors or tools menu. Try the read-only prompt below.
On Team and Enterprise workspaces, an owner or authorized administrator may need to add the connector first. Each staff member then connects with their own Butler account.

Connect with ChatGPT
Add Butler as a custom MCP connection in ChatGPT on the web.
Open ChatGPT in a new tabAdd a custom MCP server
Open ChatGPT Plugins and select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Some accounts show custom connections under Apps or developer settings; your workspace must allow them.
Enter the Butler connection details
Name the connection Butler AI, paste the server URL above, and choose OAuth. Use dynamic client registration (DCR), if prompted. Leave manually supplied client ID and secret fields empty.
Create the connection and authorize Butler
Review the connection notice and create the plugin or app. When prompted, sign in through Butler, choose your hotel, review the permissions, and choose Allow access.
Use Butler in a chat
Install or enable the new connection if prompted. Start a conversation, type @ and select Butler AI, then try the read-only prompt below.
If custom MCP connections are missing, ask your workspace administrator about access. If Butler rejects the callback, contact Butler support so the connection’s exact callback URL can be enabled.

Enable Butler in a new conversation, then start with a read-only request.
“Use Butler AI to list open tasks for my connected hotel. Do not make any changes.”
Once connected, you can ask about guests, messages, reservations, menus, and hotel knowledge. Available actions depend on your approved permissions and staff role. Review details before approving messages, reservation changes, or billing actions.
Connection questions
What is MCP?
Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets AI assistants call tools in connected services. Butler uses it to give Claude and ChatGPT access to hotel operations through your staff account.
Can the assistant access every hotel?
Each Butler connection is bound to one hotel selected during approval. You need an active staff membership at that hotel. Approved scopes and your staff role determine which actions are available.
Does my assistant receive my Butler password?
You sign in on Butler’s own login page. The assistant receives a separate OAuth token, rather than your Butler password or Firebase sign-in token.
What if I see “Callback is not allowed” or cannot connect?
Check that the server URL is exactly https://api.heybutler.io/mcp and that OAuth automatic registration is selected. A callback error needs Butler support to enable the assistant’s exact callback URL. If no hotel appears after sign-in, ask your hotel administrator to check your active staff membership.
How do I change hotels or disconnect?
Remove or disconnect Butler in your assistant’s connection settings. To use another hotel, start the connection flow again and select a hotel where you have active staff membership.
